What is a Forensic Accountant?

I think back in the past, like fifteen or twenty years ago, most of us would not have heard of an occupation called Forensic Accountant. Well, in case you have not heard of such a job before as well .. forensic accountants are experienced auditors, accountants, and investigators of legal and financial documents that are hired to look into possible suspicions of fraudulent activity within a company; or are hired by a company who may just want to prevent fraudulent activities from occurring.
So basically they are investigators too (much like CSI and all) but only for financial-related activities. A brother of a friend works as a forensic accountant here in Malaysia (or is it in Singapore?), anyway forensic accountant malaysia or forensic accountant UK, i heard that he’s doing pretty well. I’ve taken up accounting as one of my subjects back in high school but it was never my favorite subject nor was it one of my best .. maybe i should ’steer’ my son or daughter into becoming an accountant or perhaps specialize into forensic accounting ![]()
