Slings for your baby
By platinumgirl on Oct 19, 2007 in Home & Parenting
My son was born a hefty 3.8 kilos last year. As he was pretty heavy, i didnt have the energy to carry/cuddle him for long periods due to my weak hands. I can punch quite hard but when it comes to carrying babies, i am a sore loser not good at it. Well, more to no energy.
So i did some research online and found out about baby slings, which are used to carry babies around. In addition to providing convenience having a baby around, baby slings are said to give baby a more secure feeling and helps to create a stronger bond between a mother and its child. I thought to myself that i needed one and badly. Searched searched searched and the cheapest i could find was more than RM100. End up i bought the nylon rings from the internet for about RM40 (2 pairs), my own cloth @ RM35 and have someone sew it for me according to the plans i got off the net (RM5).
Unfortunately, the sling was not useful to me because of 2 reasons. The material i bought was not really suitable and my big baby cannot stay put in the sling. However, slings can be used until your kid is 3 years old. Anyway, the sling i made costed me RM50++. Might as well i go and buy a proper one. Mumble mumble !
